The presidency of São Tomé and Príncipe in the CPLP is focused on cooperation in the energy sector, following the theme "Youth and Sustainability in the CPLP". Seminars were held in Lisbon, Cape Verde and Brazil, with great participation and interest. The last seminar will be in São Tomé and Príncipe, culminating in a roadmap for COP30 in Brazil. The 2nd CPLP Energy Conference was launched, which will take place in Portugal, with the aim of driving a sustainable energy transition. The importance of cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries was highlighted, due to shared energy and climate challenges.
The ecological, economic, social and cultural diversity of these countries makes cooperation vital to accelerate energy transitions, respecting the rights of local communities and promoting ecosystem resilience. The events promoted aim to strengthen the union and action of Portuguese-speaking countries, leaving a lasting legacy and consolidating the coordinated approach of the CPLP.
It is expected to strengthen the presence and voice of these countries in international forums, such as the African Climate Summit in September 2025 and COP30 in November 2025. Everyone is invited to participate in these events to strengthen the energy and climate community and plan a resilient, sustainable and inclusive energy transition for the CPLP.
